What does a Coach do?
Your coach will meet with you to create an employability plan that is unique to you, you will be given an employment journey pack where you can choose which programmes and activities will help you. Your coach can meet you once a week or once every 2 weeks or more often, you can discuss this with your coach. Your coach will help you to set up a bank account, access a young scot card and help you to apply for an Educational Maintenance Allowance. Your coach will help you with everything you need to get started and be with you until you start work, college, training or an apprenticeship.
Lifeskills Programme
Most employers expect you to work as part of a team - at first this can seem daunting and may stop you going after the job you want. We have 2 programmes that you can choose from that will help you build your confidence and develop skills that will help you achieve your ambitions. By the end of the programmes you will be ready to move onto the next stage of your journey. 100% of young people who completed the programmes said they felt much more confident and many felt they had made good friends whilst on the course.
Options & Pathways Workshops
If you don’t have time to attend a full programme you can opt for our short one hour workshops, the workshops are short and give you all the information you need on courses in the city, how to apply, building a CV, building your confidence, cooking session. If you complete 5 workshops you will have enough credits for an SCQF Level 4 qualification that will gain you entry into college. Ask your coach about the Employability and Lifeskills Award
Mindset
Download our Mind Matters PosterWe recognise low moods, anxiety and sleepless nights can affect anyone at any point. In the last 10 years there has been an increase in the number of young people who have experienced such symptoms over a prolonged period. If you feel you have any of the above symptoms you can opt for our Mindmatters programme. Speak to your coach about this programme.
Work Placement
The On Route Work Placement Programme offers young people the opportunity to try out the world of work with one of our partner employers. You can opt for a placement in Retail, Hospitality, Car Maintenance, Hairdressing, Beauty or Construction, the choice is yours.
ESOL Programme
The On Route ESOL programmes have been designed for young people who don’t speak English or have limited understanding or for those young people who are developing confidence and able to work within a group setting. We have an ESOL tutor and an activity programme.
Weekly Drop In
We have a weekly drop in on a Thursday from 11am till 1pm, if you are interested in applying for an MA or looking at job vacancies or just want to chat to one of the coaches just ask for Annemarie at reception.
