Your Journey
The On Route service is needs led therefore each person’s journey will be different. Your coach will help you choose which activities are right for you. You don’t need to do all the activities offered within each programme.
One to One Support
The On Route Service offers all young people their own employability coach. Your coach is there to help you reach your goals and move successfully onto college, training or employment.

You will be introduced to your coach who will get to know you and then help you to create a learning plan that is right for you. Your learning plan will be based on your individual needs and career aspirations. Your coach will support you until you have reached your end goal - they will work at your pace and help you to choose activities that will firstly help you minimise any barriers you may be facing.
As you move along your plan towards your end goal you will begin to feel more confident, at this stage your coach will offer you additional activities to help you develop your employability skills.
You do not need to select all the activities offered, the choice is yours. When you are happy with your plan you and your coach will sign an Activity Agreement. Remember - big journeys begin with small steps!

Mindset
We recognise low moods, anxiety and sleepless nights can affect anyone at any point. In the last 10 years there has been an increase in the number of young people who have experienced such symptoms over a prolonged period. We have designed a range of programmes aimed at helping you manage these barriers.

Mindset One to One
The Mindset programme is all about you getting into the right headspace to go further in your journey. You might struggle with being in groups, with anxiety or with anger. These are common reaction when we feel uncomfortable and will arise throughout your life.
The programme is not counselling. It is about you and helping you find your way, there is no pressure to share anything you don’t want to. The Mindset team don’t want to know about your past, they focus on preparing you for.
Groupwork
We offer a mental health and well-being module that has been designed to help you better understand different types of mental illness, anxiety disorders, stress and the impact of sleepless nights. You will develop coping skills and learn self-help techniques to help you deal with new situations. The sessions are delivered in a small group setting. We also have a specialist Mindset team who work with young people experiencing high levels of anxiety.
Mindset Volunteer Placements
Starting a new job can be daunting, try volunteering as a trial run, you choose the area where you would like to work and the hours that suit you. Try before you buy!

The tasters usually last a day and they give you a chance to ‘try before you buy’! If you’ve never been to a college or even thought about it, this is a great chance to see if it’s something you would like to do with the support of your coach.
